Food is the basic need of mankind and need of the food never ending. Field of food science & technology is highly interdisciplinary and applied. Skilled manpower and potent researchers in food science are always in demand. Keeping this in view, department of Food Processing Technology was established in Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, in the year of 2013. Main objective of this department is to impart quality education in the field of food science, processing and technology. The department is well established and is recognized for the excellence in teaching and lab facilities. Department have well experienced and dedicated faculty with versatility in areas of specialization. The core competence of the department exists in microbial and fermentation technology, dairy technology, nutraceuticals, food biotechnology etc. Currently, department offers courses like B. Tech. (4 years), M. Tech. (integrated 5 Years) and M. Sc. (2 years) in food processing technology. Besides, bachelor and master degrees, department also offers Ph.D. in food processing technology. Professionally skilled food technologists and researchers find placements in food (Sugar, Dairy, fruits and vegetable, cereals and legume based industries) and pharmaceutical (Functional foods and nutraceuticals) industries and academia.
