The Department trains the young minds for research in the area of basic sciences and inculcates scientific temperament. The Department boasts of well qualified faculty with research interest in different areas of Physics. Presently, the Department offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Physics. The Department encourages students to participate in various scientific and research events at national and international level in specialized areas like Nuclear Physics, Radiation Physics, High Energy Physics and Solid State Physics. Besides teaching in schools, colleges and universities; there are huge job opportunities for M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degree holders in Physics in research, design and development. There are various Research Centres in India and abroad where M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree holders are required for elaborative research in various fields of Physics. Students have excellent opportunities in Indian research establishments such as DRDO, ISRO, BARC, ONGC, etc., as scientists.
